Letzten Sonntag war in Hamburg mal wieder Hallenflohmarkt. Das bedeutet, zwei riesige Messehallen sind komplett mit Tapeziertischen möbliert, die sich unter der Last von mehreren Schichten aus Krimskrams, Trödel und Sammlerzeugs der letzten fünfzig Jahre biegen. Pflicht für Autoquartett-Fans! Relativ frühmorgens ab neun reihte ich mich also ein in die Massen, die sich durch die Gänge wälzten. Flohmarkt-Quartettradar angeknipst und auf gehts …
Jedenfalls, nach drei staubigen Stunden und einem Dutzend harter Preisverhandlungen mit diversen Quartettkennern und Ahnungslosen konnte ich eine prallgefüllte Beutetüte nach Hause schleppen! So richtige Raritäten hab ich zwar nicht aufspüren können, aber ein paar ganz nette Quartette für wenig Geld sind mir schließlich doch zugelaufen.
22 alte Quartette sammeln in 3 Stunden
Interessant, wenn auch ohne Box, ist zum Beispiel das Rennfahrer-Quartett von Piatnik. Oder das Rallye-Autoquartett von F.X. Schmid mit seinen lustigen Fehlern. Das Motorräder-Quartett von F.X. Schmid besitze ich schon, hab ich dummerweise mit einer anderen Ausgabe verwechselt (naja, für zwei Euro). Highlights sind PS-Brummer von 1973, die BMW-Karten von Piatnik (werd ich auf diesem Blog mal ausführlicher vorstellen) und die seltene Schweizer Version vom verrückten ASS-Spiel Nasa Super Jets! Die Dubletten und Quartettreste ohne Titelkarte werden wohl demnächst bei ebay oder in meiner Tauschliste landen … jemand Interesse?

wow, nicht schlecht, was du da auf diesem Flohmarkt alles an Quartettspielen abgestaubt hast!
Da sind ja wirklich ein paar sehr schöne Quartettspiele mit dabei –
bspw.:
– die tolle 1977er „SST-Ausgabe“ „Airlines“ von FXS (ist mein Lieblingsquartett aus der „Airlines-Reihe“ von FXS; vor allem wegen des tollen Fotos der TU 144 in diesem Spiel!)
– das spätere „Top ASS-Spiel“ im Skatkartenformat „Heiße Öfen“ ist auch nicht schlecht!
– und auch das FXS-Spiel „Cabriolets und Luxus-Coupés“ ist sehr schön und hat eine tolle Modellauswahl
– auch nicht schlecht: das „SST-Quartett“ „Rallye-Autos“ von FXS! … ist aber eben die häufigere Variante… die Ausgabe mit dem Mercedes auf der Deckkarte ist dann meistens schon etwas schwerer zu finden
– das Mini-Quartett „Rallye“ von ASS ist auch toll; wenngleich es exakt den gleichen Kartensatz wie das Vorgängerspiel „Rallye-Asse“ aus der „Maxi-Mini-Reihe“ hat
– auch diese Ausgabe des ASS-Spiels „NASA Super Jets“ sieht interessant aus (habe ich bislang so noch nie gesehen… kenne von diesem Spiel nur die normale großformatige Ausgabe, sowie die spätere Ausgabe im Skatkartenformat)
– und auch dieses Spiel „Italo Renner“ von FXS ist ein schönes Quartett mit tollen Modellen (allerdings fast nur mit Ferrarimodellen…) darin
Alles in Allem also tolle Käufe, die du da gemacht hast!

„Cabriolets und Luxus-Coupés“ ist übrigens die ungewöhnliche Version ohne den „Neu“-Kreis auf dem Titelbild mit lediglich 24 Karten! Leider fehlt noch eine davon und es ist ziemlich bespielt. Naja, hab 50 Cent bezahlt.

interessant! Dieses Detail (also daß da der „Neu-Aufdruck“ auf der Deckkarte fehlt) bei jenem Spiel „Cabriolets und Luxus-Coupés“ von FXS war mir auf deinem Foto oben garnicht aufgefallen. Ich kannte von diesem Spiel bislang auch nur die Variante mit dem „Neu-Aufdruck“ auf der Deckkarte und mit insgesamt 32 Spielkarten.
Weißt du zufälligerweise, ob bei dieser Ausgabe ohne den „Neu-Aufdruck“ und mit nur 24 Spielkarten, diese 24 Spielkarten den ersten 24 Spielkarten (also den Spielkarten 1A bis 6D) der 32-Kartenversion dieses Spiels entsprechen, oder sind bei der 24-Kartenversion dieses Spiels ganz andere Modelle zu sehen?

Hi Sandra,
die 24 Karten entsprechen den ersten 24 des 32er Spiels. Man kann also glücklicherweise hin- und hertauschen, um aus schlechten Spielen ein Gutes zu machen.
Warum es diese 24er Versionen gab, weiß ich auch nicht genau. Sie wurden im gleichen Jahr produziert. Anders verhält es sich mit der FXS-Serie von 1985 (DB ovaler Rahmen, oben Schachbrettmuster) – auch hier gab es 24er Spiele, wo ganz offensichtlich die bereits aufgeduckte Seriennummer übertüncht wurde. Auf der RS dieser 24er Spiele steht allerdings (c)1984!

Auf der Rückseite des Deckblattes steht übrigens 1981 drauf, als Druckdatum findet sich auf einer der Karten allerdings 83…

Grüße aus Wien und glückwunsch zur erfolgreichen Jagd ! In Wien ist es ähnlich ich klappere zur Zeit einige Flohmärkte ab und finde dabei immer wieder mal das eine oder andere gute Stück leider meist jedoch neuere Quartette und auf Sammlerbörsen zahlt man für gute Stücke um ein vielfaches mehr .
Ebenfalls auf den zweiten Blick interessant ist das relativ neue „Cabrio“-Spiel von 1996 (untere Reihe), ein „Noname“-Quartett ohne Logo. Offensichtlich von F.X. Schmid, aber als Herausgeber firmiert eine RPS GmbH Prien (die letzte FXS-Adresse).

bezüglich des Druckdatums der „normalen“ 32-Spielkartenvariante dieses FXS-Quartetts „Cabriolets und Luxus-Coupés“ (Nr. 52010) mit dem „Neu-Aufdruck“ auf der Deckkarte, habe ich nun interessehalber auch nochmal nachgeschaut: So steht dort (bei unserer Ausgabe dieses Spiels) auf der Rückseite der Deckkarte das Jahr 1981, und auf der Spielkarte 5B (Audi Coupé GL) in diesem Spiel steht folgende Druckdatumszahl: „23661181“.

Ah, danke für die Info. Naja, es kommt ja öfter bei FXS-Quartetten aus dieser Zeit vor, dass das Druckdatum vom angegebenen Jahr abweicht. Die Spiele wurden halt über längere Zeit nachgedruckt. Da die Herstellung eines Quartetts mit 24 Karten natürlich günstiger ist und es daher auch günstiger verkauft werden kann, denke ich mal, dass diese Varianten speziell für bestimmte Handelsketten, z.B. Discounter produziert wurden. – Übrigens, beim von dir angesprochenen „Heiße Öfen“-Spiel von ASS fiel mir auch noch ein Detail auf, und zwar gibt es zwei Titelblatt-Rückseiten. Einmal mit einfacher Firmenadresse, einmal mit Firmenadresse inklusive Telefonnr. und dem Slogan „ASS – mein Spiel“.

ich denke mal, du hast da recht mit deiner Vermutung, daß diese „abgespeckten“ 24-Spielkartenvarianten von bestimmten Quartettspielen von FXS aus jener Zeit wohl in der Tat „Billigversionen“ der normalen 32-Spielkartenvarianten für den Verkauf in bestimmten Discountern damals waren. Dies klingt für mich sehr plausibel und könnte wirklich so gewesen sein.
Interessant, auch diese beiden Varianten bei der Rückseite der Deckkarte jener Ausgabe dieses späteren „Top ASS-Spiels“ „Heiße Öfen“ (Nr. 3069/3) im Skatkartenformat war mir bislang nicht bekannt!
Ich habe diesbezüglich mal in unserer Quartettspielesammlung nachgeschaut – wir haben hier die Variante dieses Spiels, bei der nur die einfache Firmenadresse auf der Rückseite der Deckkarte steht.
Unsere Ausgabe dieses Spiels befindet sich übr. noch in der originalen Box mit jenem durchsichtigen neongrünen Boxunterteil! … auch das originale Preisschild klebt an diesem Boxunterteil noch dran – das Spiel kostete im Laden damals 2,95DM…

Heute war wieder Hallenflohmarkt, diesmal trotz Frühlingsklima Winterflohmarkt genannt… Die Ausbeute hielt sich mengenmäßig in Grenzen, dafür konnte ich einen schon länger gesuchten raren Klassiker für relativ moderate zwölf Euro abstauben, “Flieg mit“ von 1958. Jedenfalls ein sehr empfehlenswerter Flohmarkt!

the only problem with this fair is, that it is very difficult to really find games for a good price. Usually they ask way too much. Anyway I managed to come home with 15 games. The Auto Quartett with the BMW on the front cover is almost in mint unplayed condition! The greek game is very interesting, as it are ALL new cards, no re-issue from FX or Ass
And today I bought a very nice lot of 12 games for only 15 euro:
Top row 4th game is a Czech game, just like the game below. I think they were included within a magazine, but I am not sure. 1st game 2nd row is also a Czech game, all 32 cards predict Czech cars! Next to that is a Nürnberger game, which I think has not been issued in Germany with this front card (can anyone confirm this?). I think it is very rare as until today I had never seen this. The card selection is the same I think like the game next to that. Last row, 2nd game has a game called ‚carros‘, which was included in a Dutch magazine. This has 13×4 cards, but with no technical data.

Concerning your question about this game from Nürnberger Spielkarten with these Formula racing-cars, I only can confirm, that I – for myself – never have seen a german issue of this game with that front-card here; but maybe a german issue of this game from Nürnberger Spielkarten with this front-card does exist, so I’m not really sure about that.
A few words about another game from Nürnberger Spielakrten you bought here as the dutch-edition – „Auto’s Internationaal“ (that’s the one with this red Simca Chrysler featured on the front-card) – because this game is also one of my favourite quartett-games from Nürnberger Spielkarten at all! My boyfriend and I also have got this dutch-edition of that game in our quartett-game-collection and also the german-edition from Nürnberger Spielkarten called „Autos International“ (the german edition of this game also features this red Simca Chrysler on the front-card and the card-deck is also exactly the same as the card-deck from the dutch-issue; only that the german-issue of this game is quite hard to find and usually very expensive on Ebay – for example – when this games occurs there!). I like this game very much, because it is one of those games, I had got as a child!
(Okay, in the end, this game „Autos International“ from Nürnberger Spielkarten is „only“ a pendant to a game from Berliner Spielkarten with the same title and also exactly the same card-deck; only that the edition from Berliner Spielkarten features a red Triumph TR 7 on the front-card; and later – around 1979 / 1980 Berliner Spielkarten themselves also re-issued this game in their „Quiz-Quartett-series“ (also with the same title and card-deck, but with two other front-card-pictures and in a smaller card-size)).

thank for the info Sandra! I didn’t know that the Berliner game with the Simca was issued in Germany as well with this front card. I thought it was with a different front card. It must be quite rare I think. The Berliner Quiz quartetts are also very hard to get.

no problem, but maybe here a missunderstanding had occured, because – as I wrote above – the game „Autos International“ from Berliner Spielkarten had a different car shown on the front-card – not this Simca Chrysler (because only the games „Auto’s Internationaal“ (dutch issue) and „Autos International“ (german issue) from Nürnberger Spielkarten had featured that Simca Chrysler on the front-card); so that issue from Berliner Spielkarten of this game shows a Triumph TR 7 on the front-card.
The issues from Nürnberger Spielkarten of this game (especially the german issue) are quite rare indeed! But the issue of Berliner Spielkarten with that Triumph TR 7 on the front-card isn’t so rare and hard to find.
Concerning these „Quiz-Quartett-games“ from Berliner Spielkarten (issued around 1980), it is true, that some of them are very rare and hard (expensive) to find today – especially the „Quiz-Quartett-editions“ with the „Brandenburger Tor-heart-logo“ on the front-card – these ones can get very expensive. The standard „Quiz-Quartett-issues“, which only had that „Quiz-Master-frame“ and the „Berliner-bear-logo“ are more common and easier to find and (usually) not very expensive.

thanks for all the information! About Nürnberger, Did Nürnberger issue games (with these type of front cards) that were NOT re-issues? I have Dampfloks which I think is such a game. Then there is also ‚Salon der Klassisschen Autos‘. Almost all the others seems to be re-issues from Berliner or FX Schmid (with the orange front cards)

that is a very good question!
So, I think you’re right here – because I also do believe, that almost all quartett-games from Nürnberger Spielkarten are re-issues from Berliner Spielkarten or FXS, but also that especially this game „Dampfloks“ from Nürnberger Spielkarten is no re-issue from another brand – so „Dampfloks“ seems to be an original generic game only issued by Nürnberger Spielkarten.
I’ll check out, if I find some more quartett-games from Nürnberger Spielkarten which seem to be no re-issues from other quartettgame-brands. (That will take me some time.)

yesterday I did have some time to check all the quartett-games from Nürnberger Spielkarten of our quartett-game-collection:
Besides these game „Dampflokomotiven“, I think, that the following games from Nürnberger Spielkarten are also only issued by Nürnberger Spielkarten themselves and are no re-issues from other quartett-game-brands (like from Berliner Spielkarten or FXS); although, I surely must admit here, that I’m not 100% sure about that, but I know these following games only from Nürnberger Spielkarten:
(Note: These are all german issues of these games)
1) „Verkehrszeichen Quartett“ (Nr. 261013; the frontcard shows a „STOP-sign“; 24 playing cards)
2) „Verkehrszeichen Quartett“ (Nr. 600) (this game is exactly the the same as 1), with exactly the same card-deck, only the order number is different)
3) „Schiffe-Quartett“ (Nr. 261513; the frontcard shows the ship „Hanseatic“; 32 playing cards)
4) „Biene Maja“ (Nr. 622; the frontcard shows Biene Maja sitting on a rose; 36 playing cards)
So far this list; but, as I stated, these four games are the only four ones from Nürnberger Spielkarten from our collection, from which I guess, that these games are issued by Nürnberger Spielkarten only; all other games from Nürnberger Spielkarten from our collection are re-issues from games from Berliner Spielkarten or FXS.
With other words – maybe there do exists more quartett-games from Nürnberger Spielkarten, which were only issued by Nürnberger Spielkarten themselves, but actually I – for myself – only know these four ones (+ this game „Dampflokomotiven“).
Maybe some more words to this game „Biene Maja“ from Nürnberger Spielkarten I did have listet here – I know for sure, that the readers of the quartettblog here are mainly interested in technical quartett-games (especially games with cars and so on) and usually not in quartett-games for small children. Nevertheless, I think, that this game „Biene Maja“ (in english: Bee Maja) is worth to leave some words about it here, because this quartett-game is a kind of little gem in my eyes, and I’ll tell you why:
When I was a little girl about the age of 3 or 4, my mother bought me this game and I really loved it! This game has a special feature – if you have all four cards of one quartett (for example 1a), 1b), 1c) and 1d)) and then lay these four cards in a row in their correct order, you then get a nice big picture! As a small kid I loved puzzling with these cards and when I finished that puzzling correctly, my mother then read me the text which stands underneath every card; so this game is telling the story of Biene Maja, and each four cards of this game are telling and showing a special adventure of this famous bee. By the way – the drawings of Biene Maja and all the other insects in that game are totally different to the drawings of that famous tv-cartoon-series „Biene Maja“ (from which for example ASS made quartett-games). In this game from Nürnberger Spielkarten here, the drawings of the insects look more realistic and very nice and lovely.
Anyway… this game from childhood days disappeared somehow (maybe the cards were too playworn and my mother had put them into the garbage can at last, or I left it somewhere… I don’t know anymore.) But I always have kept this special game in a very good memory. Many years later then, as this whole ebay-thing started, I tried to find this game there again… It took me years(!!!) then to find it on ebay! This game seems to be extremely rare, but in the end it wasn’t very expensive; okay, that’s surely because many quartett-game-collectors don’t collect such games like „Biene Maja“, even if it is from Nürnberger Spielkarten, which is a brand, many quartett-game-collectors are very keen on collection the rare games of this brand.
Even when a usual quartett-game-collector would see or find this one at a flea-market, most quartett-game-collectors would surely leave this one aside or wouldn’t even notice it as worthy for their collection.
But – beside its rarity – this game is still today a very nice and lovely game for small children (I speak here from my own childhood experiences!)!
I also found out, that there exist to different versions of this game – but this difference refers only to the back-card-picture of the playing cards (shows Biene Maja sitting on a flower): There exists a „normal“ version and also a version, where the back-card-picture of the playing cards is mirror-inverted.
In the end this very nice and beautiful game is also one of the reasons, why I like the quartett-games from Nürnberger Spielkarten so much!

about your comment that one quartett (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d) forms one big picture, I have seen a very similar Nürnberger quartett called ’salon der klassischen Autos‘, the four cards from each quartett (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d) forms one big picture of the car.
I think there are two different versions of that game. And also a game called ‚Die schnellsten Wagen der Welt‘ with similar pictures spread over four cards. I have small pictures from these that I downloaded from ebay, I will try to upload them this evening.
And there is also a carrera game, but that is also very expensive apparently…
btw, Biene Maja is now a proporty of a Belgian company ‚Studio 100‘, and has been revised into 3d animation, pretty cool:

yes, for sure I agree – so also for my boyfriend and me the technical-quartett-games (especially those with cars from the 70’s) are the main focus of our quartett-game-collection, too.
But nevertheless this game „Biene Maja“ from Nürnberger Spielkarten is still one of my favourite „non-technical-quartett-games“; for sure also because of all these nice childhood-memories I have concerning this special game.
I also did have heard about these games „Salon der klassischen Autos“ and „Die schnellsten Wagen der Welt“, but I have no exact information about these two games (we also don’t have them in our quartett-game-collection).
And I once had seen this „Carrera-Quartett“ from Nürnberger Spielkarten on ebay, too! … oh yes, this was one is very rare and can get very expensive on ebay (I guess it isn’t possible to gain this one for less than 100Euro on ebay)! … we also don’t have this game in our collection.
Thanks for this link and that information that „Biene Maja“ is now property of a belgian company! I didn’t knew that! So Biene Maja goes 3D now – … a modern Biene Maja for modern kids! 😉

I only have the left version (with jets + the old Lufthansa Logo on the back). The others are new to me. But there are some other versions of this interesting game:
– Unsere Lufthansa, Nr. 580, 1964,
– Unsere Lufthansa, Nr. 53822, 1968,
both with pictures in black&white and with jets + the old Lufthansa Logo on the backside.
– Lufthansa, Nr. 58022, 1974/75, with color photography and Lufthansa Logos in small circles.
There is even a similar game called: Unsere Bundesbahn, Nr. 58122, 1969.

Hervorheben möchte hier mal die beiden sehr schönen „Quartettspielklassiker“ von ASS – also jene tolle Ausgabe von „Flotte Flitzer“ von 1976 und das auch sehr schöne Spiel „Deutsche Auto-Asse ’72“; sowie die beiden auch recht tollen „Rallye-Quartettspiele“ von Berliner Spielkarten und von FXS aus den späten 70er- / frühen 80er-Jahren. Und auch diese Ausgabe von „Tolle Autos“ von Piatnik von 1972 ist ein schöner „Quartettklassiker“! … dies sind zwar allesamt keine wirklichen Quartett-Raritäten; aber trotzdem sehr schöne Quartettspiele!
Der Hammer ist aber allerdings diese Ausgabe aus der Reihe „Coupés“ von Piatnik von 1975 hier!!! Dies ist nämlich die seltenste Ausgabe aus jener Quartettreihe „Coupés“ von Piatnik überhaupt!
… im Topzustand ist dieses Spiel bei Ebay (falls es denn dort überhaupt alle Schaltjahre mal angeboten wird …) heutzutage wohl nicht mehr unter 100Euro zu bekommen … darf ich deshalb mal fragen, was du für dieses Spiel hier auf jenem Flohmarkt bezahlt hast? … dies würde mich mal interessieren! 😉

Jep, ich war recht zufrieden! Zumal ich nicht soo viel Geld ausgegeben habe. 4,– € für das Spiel Coupés, da kann man nicht meckern ;-))) Cool bleiben beim Verhandeln ist die Devise! Auch die anderen Spiele hab ich letztlich wohl günstiger bekommen, als sie bei Ebay gewesen wären: Je etwa 4,– € für Flitzer, Auto-Asse, Tolle Autos, Schnelle Eisen, U-Bahn, Piraten (jeweils im Paket bei zwei verschiedenen Händlern), je 2,– für Weltklasse-Autos und das Test-Quartett (weil: Fehlkarte), je 1,– € für die beiden Rallye-Spiele und der Rest zwischen 0,50 € und 1,– €.

da hast du ja wirklich ein Superschnäppchen auf jenem Flohmarkt gemacht; vor allem mit diesen – bei diesem Quartett wirklich lachhaften – 4Euro für diese sehr seltene Ausgabe des Quartett „Coupés“ von Piatnik von 1975 – das ist ja praktisch schon geschenkt für 4Euro!!!
… ja, in der Tat – bei Ebay hättest du sicherlich allein schon für dieses eine Spiel ein vielfaches an Geld hinblättern müssen!
Und auch die anderen Spiele waren ja allesamt überaus preisgünstig! … auch hier hättest du bei Ebay bestimmt mehr bezahlen müssen.
… Flohmärkte lohnen sich also (vor allem „geldbeuteltechnisch“) bei der Suche, bzw. „Jagd“ 😉 nach schönen alten Quartettspielen doch noch – sehr schön!

Schau‘ mal nach, ob diese deine Ausgabe des Spiels „Coupés“ von Piatnik von 1975 auch den korrekten Kartensatz hat – in dieser Ausgabe sind nämlich u.a. zwei tolle Japaner aus den 70ern drin: auf der Spielkarte 2a) ein cooles Toyota Corolla 1200 Coupé und auf Spielkarte 4c) ein wunderschönes Toyota Crown Coupé. (Dies sind meine beiden persönlichen Favoriten in diesem Spiel – ich bin ja (wie ich an anderer Stelle schonmal geschrieben hatte) ein absoluter Fan dieser alten Japaner speziell aus den 70ern!
(Und: Zur genauen Überprüfung des Kartensatzen kannst du ja auf meine Kommentare zum dem Spiel „Coupés“ hier in deinem Quartettblog zurückgreifen; dort hatte ich ja vor Jahren mal alle Kartensatzunterschiede der verschiedenen Ausgaben jener Piatnik-Reihe genau aufgelistet.)

PS: Ein Vorteil vom Flohmarkt ist ja auch, dass man sich die Karten vorher angucken kann, so kann die eine oder andere negative Überraschung vermieden werden (bzw. zu einem Preisnachlass eingesetzt werden…)

Ja, der gute alte Flohmarkt bietet schon so seine Vorteile – neben den hier oftmals recht niedrigen Preisen – eben auch das Anfassen und das Begutachten der Ware, das Handeln, etc., etc. … eben noch so richtig „oldschool-mäßig“ (im positiven Sinne)! … und diesen klassischen Flair von Flohmärkten kann einem eben auch kein Ebay oder sonst etwas bieten, bzw. ersetzen.
